About color theory Boston
Interior Design Led by Color, Clarity, and Intent
color thoery Boston is a residential interior design studio based in Boston, specializing in thoughtfully planned interiors that balance bold color with timeless design.
We believe exceptional spaces begin with clarity - a clear vision, a disciplined process, and an understanding of how color, proportion, and material work together to shape how a home feels and functions. Our work is grounded on the belief that design should elevate everyday living while standing the test of time.
A Strategic Approach to Design
Our process is deliberately structured and collaborative. We guide clients through each phase of design with confidence and transparency, beginning well before construction or renovation begins. By establishing a cohesive design plan early, we help clients avoid costly missteps, streamline decision-making, and ensure that every detail - from architectural finishes to furnishings - works in harmony.
Color is not an afterthought in our work. It is a strategic tool used to enhance light, define spaces and bring depth and character to a home.
Experience That Matters
With deep experience working in Boston’s historic and contemporary homes, we understand the nuamces of New England architecture - from townhouses and brownstones to modern residences and custom builds.
Our studio collaborates closely with homeowners, architects, and contractors to ensure that design intent is respected and executed with precision.
Clients come to us seeking:
-Confident design leadership
-Thoughtful use of color
-A refined yet livable aesthetic
-A clear, organized process
They stay because the experience feels calm, considered, and personal.
Design That Feels Collected, Not Decorated
Our interiors are layered, intentional, and tailored to the people who live in them. We value spaces that feel complete but never rigid - homes that reflect individuality without chasing trends.
Every project is appraoched with the same goal: to create interiors that feel enduring, expressive and quietly elevated.
Design Fee Transparency
From day one, color theory Boston has operated with a simple belief: great design should begin with clarity, not questions. That’s why we charge a Flat Rate Design Fee, tailored specifically to the scope, scale, and complexity of each project. This approach allows us to be fully transparent from the start and establishes an immediate sense of trust and honesty—before a single drawing is produced.
Flat Rate vs. Hourly Billing: The Difference Matters
With a flat rate structure, you know exactly what your investment is upfront. The fee is thoughtfully calculated based on your project’s needs, ensuring that design decisions are driven by what’s best for your home—not by a ticking clock. This creates a collaborative environment where our team can focus on delivering the strongest possible design outcome, without distractions or hidden variables.
By contrast, an hourly billing model often comes with uncertainty. While the hourly rate may seem straightforward, the total cost can be difficult to predict. Hours can accumulate not only for the lead designer, but also for the broader team supporting your project—project management, drafting, coordination, and revisions—resulting in invoices that fluctuate and grow over time.
Designed for Transparency and Peace of Mind
Our flat rate fee eliminates that ambiguity. It provides:
Predictable investment with no surprise invoices
Clear alignment between scope and cost
Confidence and peace of mind throughout the design process
Ultimately, this structure allows us to build strong client relationships rooted in transparency, trust, and mutual respect—while giving you the freedom to focus on the excitement of the design journey itself.
At color theory Boston, we believe honesty in pricing is just as important as excellence in design.
